Are you tired of your old pal ignoring you when you need her most? Do you feel that your friendship is failing because your buddy is not helpful to you?
While we all desire friends and benefit from their advice, we may not fully understand how important supportive relationships are in our lives.
People with a supportive network are likely to worry less and to be less prone to failing in their endeavours.
We all have heard of toxic relationships; perhaps you’re more familiar with that couple who fight all the time. But, did you know a friendship can become toxic too? That’s right; we can all become victims of failing friendships. The thing is that most of us are afraid to admit that a friendship has run its course.
Various sources, methods and even apps are available to support you if you decide to set goals for yourself.
Many of us set new goals in January each year and we all try to do our best to achieve those goals.
When successful people talk about the secrets of their progress in life they highlight the importance of self-discipline. Whether it is a success they achieved in their professional lives or in their personal lives, maybe both, their inherent ability for self-control through discipline was one of the key levers of their success. They have been able to keep their thoughts, emotions and behaviours in check,
What is visualisation?
A visualisation is a strong tool you can use to combat stress, anxiety and anger as well. It can help you learn how to channel and change negative emotions into positive ones. It can help you heal, and benefit anyone else who is willing to take the time to learn these simple techniques and practice them every day. It can also help you reach all your career goals because it helps you keep you focussed, charge your batteries, be more aware of how you feel about certain events in your life, increase your confidence and improve your interpersonal skills.
How do you relax and visualise?
The steps for doing relaxation and visualisation can be quite simple. First, you need to find a comfortable place to lie down or sit and close your eyes. By closing your eyes, you will be blocking out all the visual information your brain is receiving. This is so you can concentrate on what is going on inside you.
Focus on your breathing for a couple of minutes and while you inhale, imagine that positive energy rejuvenates you and makes you feel good as it is entering and flowing through your body. As you slowly exhale, imagine all stress and negativity, from every part of you, leaving your body. Try not to think about anything else than the good energy you are breathing in and the negative thoughts you are breathing out. When you feel you can’t take in any more positive energy and have let all negativity leave your body open your eyes.
Next step is to visualise success. Success to you may mean that you will get the promotion you desire, finish the IRONMAN, get your certificate in accountancy, save enough money to travel to Miami or change your life completely and start a new career.
When you are visualising, you may want to close your eyes again. Imagine your way to success as a journey. Picture in your mind the situations which have already occurred and those which may occur in the future with your career leading to the success you desire.
See the challenges and select one which you would like to deal with today.
That may seem like an ambiguous question, but it is, in fact, the very essence of what confidence is all about.
If we take the words self-confidence or self-acceptance or self-assuredness, the common denominator is self. How you feel about yourself is key to building a good self-attitude. Much like a manager who will try to build up his team’s morale, you must build up yours. Be your own manager.
